Brian Berry, a Senior Instructor for American Survival Guide University, is a retired U.S. Army Special Forces Command sergeant major. He served for more than 27 years; 20 of those years were spent in Special Forces, for which he served first as a weapons sergeant and later as an intelligence and operations sergeant. He traveled to more than 30 different countries over the course of his Special Forces career. This was followed by thee years as a detachment team sergeant. He completed six combat tours and was highly decorated with the Legion of Merit, three Bronze Stars (one for valor) and more than 20 other awards.
He holds a degree in Business Administration from Southern New Hampshire University (summa cum laude) and is currently working on a master’s degree in Management.
A long-time gun enthusiast with a passion for shooting pistol, rifle and long-range F-class, as well as all forms of clay shooting, Berry is also an avid hunter.
He is on the staff for Patriot Hunts, a charity organization that provides hunting adventures for veterans, wounded military members and Gold Star families.
Berry is the co-founder of Spartan Defensive Concepts, teaching concealed-carry and defensive marksmanship techniques in North Carolina. He is also a contributing writer for Gun World Magazine, for which he writes a monthly column. He also works as a Defense Department consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton.
